Strawberry Topping
Goes well with any cake, ice cream or just about any dessert. Easy and quick to make and it stores in the fridge for days!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and cut into halves)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Zest and juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions:
- Mix strawberries, lemon zest, juice and sugar.
- Add to a saucepan on medium low heat.
- Whisk the cornstarch and water together until all the cornstarch has dissolved and add to strawberries.
- Stir mixture and break up some strawberries.
- Raise heat to medium and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring throughout.
- The sauce will thicken even more as it cools.
- Store in refrigerator and use as a topping for ice cream or cakes!
