Strawberry Topping

Strawberry Topping

Goes well with any cake, ice cream or just about any dessert. Easy and quick to make and it stores in the fridge for days!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and cut into halves)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Zest and juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. Mix strawberries, lemon zest, juice and sugar.
  2. Add to a saucepan on medium low heat.
  3. Whisk the cornstarch and water together until all the cornstarch has dissolved and add to strawberries.
  4. Stir mixture and break up some strawberries.
  5. Raise heat to medium and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring throughout.
  6. The sauce will thicken even more as it cools.
  7. Store in refrigerator and use as a topping for ice cream or cakes!
